Curriculum

Cambridge Curriculum
Noble Hall Leadership Academy for Girls is an accredited Cambridge International Examination school and learners follow the British National Curriculum in the first three years of secondary education culminating in the Checkpoint examinations in English, Mathematics and Science. Learners begin a two-year programme of study leading to IGCSE accreditation. The Academy where possible infuses local content into its curriculum thereby acknowledging that we operate within Nigeria.

Leadership Curriculum
leadershipOur unique selling point at Noble Hall is our leadership curriculum. We are affiliated with the African Leadership Academy in South Africa (ALA), and our Year 10 Learners participate in the yearly leadership conference.
We also offer Leadership and Public Speaking as subjects; this ensures that our girls are not only good at the regular subjects but trained to be exceptional leaders.

Personal Social and Health Education (PSHE)
pshePersonal Social and Health Education (PSHE) is a school subject through which pupils develop the knowledge, skills and attributes they need to keep themselves healthy and safe and prepare for life and work. Evidence shows that well delivered PSHE programmes have an impact on both academic and non-academic outcomes for pupils, particularly the most vulnerable and disadvantaged.

PSHE aims to develop skills and attributes such as resilience, self-esteem, risk management, team working and critical thinking. The lessons are grouped into three core themes: health and wellbeing, relationships and living in the wider world (including economic wellbeing and aspects of careers education).

At Noble Hall, our learners are equipped with all necessary skills and are prepared to change and influence their world positively.

Community Projects
At Noble Hall, one of our core values is community cohesion and our words are matched with actions, thus our learners are constantly involved in various community projects. We organise visits to Orphanages and Internally Displaced Persons (IDPs) camps and we donate books to less privileged schools around our community. We also work with Primary School Children to improve their reading skills.

In the past the school has organised Noble Hall Fun Day fund raising events and proceeds from these events were donated to charities. We are currently raising funds to provide a water borehole for our neighbouring community, Angwan-Rogo village.

DR W. M. TAWANDA

Designation: Principal
A leading educator, academic, husband and father of two, Dr. Tawanda qualified as a teacher in 1993. He is deeply committed to the well-being of the disadvantaged, hence the pursuit of a Bachelor of Philosophy in Special Educational Needs at the University of Birmingham then went on to study for a Master in Education at the University of Hertfordshire, which he was awarded with a commendation. Dr. Tawanda researched on how to measure and understand disaffection as part of these studies.

In 2008, Dr. Tawanda was awarded a distinction in the Teacher of the Year competition London Secondary School category for his outstanding work with disaffected students. Dr. Tawanda went on to study for a Doctorate in education degree investigating how educators could use the experiences of students to design alternative curriculum provisions.

Dr. Tawanda advocates against a, "one size fit all" curriculum. He is a very strong proponent of personalised, learner-centred education and he believes:

Education is a lifelong process and that acquisition of knowledge can be accelerated or developed through various teaching interventions;

Education should meet the needs of those being educated;

These needs would be best met if identified with the interests of children;

The curriculum should be based on experience and discovery rather than being subject or content based and educational programmes should focus on skills.

Dr. Tawanda has taught and led different schools in North London, Hertfordshire, Essex and Norfolk. While in Hertfordshire Dr. Tawanda initiated the Black Teachers Speak out conference in association with the University of Hertforshire which happens every October. This is an event aimed at encouraging young black graduates to go into teaching and he was featured in the University 2008/9 Prospectus as an example of a successful University of Hertfordshire graduate in the field of Education. Every year, Dr. Tawanda is invited to different schools mainly in north London to speak with ethnic minority secondary school students during the black history month.

Dr. Tawanda gained the National Professional Qualification for Headship in 2012 and is a member of the National College of School Leadership and the Association of Mathematics Teachers.
