About GMYT Fashion Academy

Grounded in our legacy of excellence and creativity, at GMYT fashion Academy, we aren’t trapped by the usual things in the fashion industry rather we are inspired by it. We shape women and youths to become not just fashion designers but also fashion entrepreneurs; we are a fashion business school that trains her students with the necessary skill set and business knowledge required to manage and sustain their fashion business. We are committed to creating the next generation of entrepreneurs. Over the years we have evolved and continued to evolve to reflect the ever-changing Fashion Industry and business landscape. With over 32 staff strength, we are constantly strengthening our expertise by adding more courses and programs to our portfolio in line with market demand. Today, we have over 3,000 alumni community some of which already own their Fashion academies, Ready to wear brands, Bespoke, Bridals, Boutiques/Retailing etc. We are packed with a lot of trainings which includes, Pattern Drafting, Manual Illustration, Business of Fashion, Fashion Marketing Skills, Visual merchandizing, Basic & advanced tailoring skills, Vocational skill acquisition, Fashion business, consulting, Procurement of sewing tools, TR cutting technique training, Styling, Haute Couture, Bridals, Avante Garde, Children’s wear, Men’s wear, Aso ebi amongst other side skills that surrounds fashion. Annually, we organize an award and fashion show ceremony (Gahawards) where we give our graduating students more publicity and recognition, potential sponsors, clients, partners, a networking platform and other numerous benefits. Through the GMYT apartments, free accommodation has been provided for our distant students to ease the stress of commuting stress to school The academy has received over 20 awards some of which are OUTSTANDING LEADERSHIPAWARD OF EXCELLENCE for OUTSTANDING FASHION SCHOOL OF THE YEAR, GMYT MENTORSHIP AWARD, RANKED NUMBER 3 AMONGST THE TOP 100 FASTEST GROWING SMEs by BUSINESS DAY and OUTSTANDING CSR ORGANISATION AWARD, AFRICAN FASHION LEADERSHIP IMPACT OF THE YEAR, LEADERSHIP AWARD FOR YOUTH FOR YOUTH AND EMPOWERMENT just to mention but a few.

Our Mission Statement

The mission is to create the next generation of fashion entrepreneurs

Admission Requirements

FULL TIME STUDENTS: Full-time students are permitted, based on their fee and program, to come to school from Mondays to Fridays.

PART TIME STUDENTS: Executive students are permitted to come to school twice a week, i.e. Saturday and any other day within the week. Note that 3 lecture days a week is only for weekday students.

FOUNDATION STUDENT: Students under the foundation program are permitted to receive lectures only on Wednesdays, Thursdays, and Saturdays.

INTERNSHIP: The Academy has a paid internship for all students after graduation having covered the cut-off mark of 75 % in their final grading. Students interested in the internship program shall apply officially via mail to: for approval.

CLASS STAGES: The GMYT Fashion Academy curriculum is designed with the corporate strategic focus to equip all students with all necessary skills to excel in the fashion space. The curriculum is therefore designed to progress students across competencies as follows;

i. Newbies / Newestbies

ii. Freshers

iii. Beginners

iv. Intermediate / Advanced

All students that register with GMYT fashion academy must start from basic regardless of the training they might have gotten elsewhere.

RINCESS KELECHI OGHENE is the Executive Director OF GMYT FASHION ACADEMY, a foremost fashion institution well-known for it’s giant strides in the fashion industry evidenced by the training and creation of new generation fashion which in active collaboration with the GMYT FASHION ACADEMY, has been able to conduct free entrepreneurial sessions, seminars and workshops for women and has trained
over 200 women and countless youths on scholarships, she has single-handedly empowered 200 women with an Industrial Machine each through her proclaimed Initiative, GMYTFoundation.

In keeping with her commitment to eradicate poverty by training and empowering women with the necessary skill-set to thrive and become financially independent, PRINCESS KELECHI OGHENE has resolved to increase the number of beneficiaries of the 2019 GMYT FOUNDATION Entrepreneurial programme and has indeed commenced training of over 500 women that aspire to be Fashion designers. The beneficiaries ofthis scheme will be trained in various aspects of fashion and business knowledge required to manage and sustain also their respective fashion businesses.

Chike is a 1983 graduate of Psychology and a 1988 graduate of Law, both from the University of Lagos and Barrister at Law in 1990, from the Nigerian Law School.After practicing as a Legal Practitioner for a number of years with Sofunde, Osakwe, Ogundipe & Belgore (Legal Practitioners), he started his own Law Practice, Ogeah & Co.

With a keen interest in Governance and International relations, Chike moved on to work in the Presidency of the Federal Republic of Nigeria and also worked in the National Planning Commission, in the capacity of Special Assistant to two Chief Economic Advisers to the President. Early career successes in Government were followed with an appointment as the National Coordinator of the successful, States Economic Empowerment Development Strategy (SEEDS). Chike then proceeded to work as a Facilitating Consultant in the Office of the Millennium Development Goals also within the Presidency.
